Charles Duggan

One of a long line of star distance runners at Hartford Public High School; member in Class of 1971.

Major laurels: CIAC Indoor 2-mile, 1969 (record 9:16.1), 1971; CIAC Outdoor, Class LL 2-mile, 1969, 1970, 1971; CIAC Open 2-mile, 1969, 1970; set State Outdoor 2-mile record, 9:06.3, 1971, Greater Hartford Invitational.

Also, lone 3-time champion, 1968, 1969, 1970, Greater Hartford Cross Country Invitational, 3-time City Champion, indoor and outdoor track, and cross country; held HPHS mile and 2-mile records; lost only one race, indoor and outdoor, for the Owls over a 3-year period; finished 6th in 1971 Golden West National Invitational to gain All-American selection.

At Springfield College was 3-time NCAA Division III Cross Country All-American; set school records in mile, 2-mile and 3-mile, among many other accomplishments in Springfield College program.

Member of Springfield College Athletic Hall-of-Fame; has coached and taught physical education for over 25 years.
