David A. Tyler

The greatest swimmer in Hartford Public High School's history, starred on teams coached by the redoubtable Larry Amann.

Established 8 national records, the 40, 50, 100, 220 and 440 yard free styles, among them; also held many state and team marks.

Founder and coach of the West Hartford Swim Club for youngsters, later to be known as the Suburban Swim Club.

Served 2 terms as President of the Connecticut AAU.

Graduate of Trinity College, Class of 1943; World War II U.S. Air Force veteran and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Clusters, and long-time insurance company executive.

Dave Tyler died on October 30, 2000.
