Arthur L. Spada

A top student, member of National Honor Society, 1948, 1949, 1950; outstanding football player, guard on the 1949 Hartford Public High School team; Class of 1950.

Went on to Wesleyan University, graduated with high honors, Class of 1954; much-honored member of 1951, 1952 and 1953 football teams; captain, Most Valuable Player, 1953, received Bacon Award.

Look Magazine “Little All-American,” 1951; Boston Post’s All-New England Small College Team, 1951; All-Connecticut Small College Team as selected by the Connecticut Sportswriters Alliance, 1951, 1952 and 1953; member of Wesleyan’s 1953 Little Three (Wesleyan, Trinity and Amherst) Championship Football Team.

Received the Distinguished American Award presented by the Northern Connecticut Chapter, National College Football Foundation.

Civic/community roles: 1st Lieutenant, U.S. Army Reserves, 1957-62; Judge Connecticut Superior Court, 1977-2000; Trustee, Hartford Public Library; Incorporator Hartford Hospital, Member, Hartford YMCA Board of Directors; President, UNICO National Hartford Chapter, and Connecticut Commissioner of Public Safety, among many others.
