Allen NunesFirst soccer player named to the Hartford Public High School Athletic Hall of Fame; inducted in 2004. Co-captain, sophomore and junior seasons; captain as senior. Led Owls to four straight Capital District Conference Championships, three state tournament appearances, including a berth in 1969 final, and unbeaten seasons in 1967 and 1968. High scorer in 1967, 1968 and 1969. Starred at the University of Hartford; All-New England, 1971, 1972, 1973; honorable mention All-American, 1971; top scorer, four years; athlete of year, 1971; assistant coach, 1974, 1975. 1976. Broke scoring record at University of Hartford as a freshman. Held record for most goals, 1970-2004. Went on to play and coach at professional and semi-professional levels. Inducted into the first class of the University of Hartford Hall of Fame in 1991.
