Allen Frazier

Hartford Public High School has had many track and cross-country stars, among them Allen Frazier, a 1954 graduate; his accomplishments and tributes include:

  • Served as Captain of the Track and Cross-Country Teams in both his junior and senior years.
  • While a junior, won the first-ever State Indoor Two-Mile Championship.
  • As a senior, captured the State Cross-Country Championship, and was the top Connecticut runner in the New England meet.
  • At UConn, was captain of track and cross-country; competed in the National Cross-Country Meet; in track, primarily ran the mile, half-mile, and two-mile. Also picked up points in the hurdle events. Held the 1000-yard indoor record.
  • Set U.S. Marine Corps record in the half-mile.
  • Coached the US Military Far East Interservice Track Team.
  • Introduced and coached first cross-country team at Rockville High School
  • As principal and superintendent served as administrative representative on CIAC committees.
