Ray Parker

The most versatile athlete in Hartford Public High School’s impressive track history; powerful competitor in 9 different events; also starred in cross country and gymnastics; class of 1962.

Won 7 individual state track championships, the 180-yd high hurdles, twice, the 60-yd and 120-yd high hurdles, long jump, twice and the 300-yd run.

Set HPHS long jump record of 23 feet in the New England Meet.

Teamed with Gene Tetreault and Ron Thompson to score all of the Owls points in winning the 1962 State Championship.

Brilliant performances led HPHS track teams to a combined 4 state indoor and outdoor championships.

Went on to star on outstanding CCSU Blue Devil track teams coached by Ted Owen.
