Joseph Cosgrove

1947 * Multi-Sport * “Mr. Versatile”

Joe Cosgrove was one of the most accomplished athletes of Hartford Public High School in the 1940’s. He was All State Honorable mention in football by the New Haven Register in 1946. He played football and basketball at HPHS for three years and baseball for two years. He earned a total of 8 letters in these three sports. He was also a member of the Greater Hartford All District Football Team, First Team.

After graduation Joe played semi-pro football with the Manchester Merchants Football team and the Ashley AA football team. He also played baseball with the Our Lady of Sorrows Senior League. He coached youth in Little League baseball, softball and midget Football. He served in the US Air Corps for four years and retired from Aetna Life Insurance after 43 years.
