Denise L. Nappier

As one of the Nappier triplets, Denise L. Nappier was a member of the Hartford Public High School class of 1969. Denise, along with other women, was a pioneer in women's high school athletics in Hartford prior to the enactment of Title IX. Demonstrating her athletic excellence and sportsmanship throughout her years at HPHS, the Denise was a member of the first HPHS track and field team and the first gymnastic team coached by Joella Marshall. Together, the Nappier sisters helped win 4 consecutive City track championships. A summary of her accomplishments includes:

  • 1966-1969 Gymnastics Free floor exercise-Second
  • 1965-1969 Track and field 880 yards relay-First Standing broad jump, running long jump-First and Second
  • 1966-1967 Modern dance
  • 1967-1969 Cheerleading
  • 1972 Gymnastics Free Floor Exercise -First place
  • Virginia University Class of 1973 BS degree Political Science
  • MS Degree University of Cincinnati City Planning Honorary Degrees Trinity College, Teikyo Post University

Diane currently serves as Connecticut State Treasurer.
